Lioness Arising: Dangerously Awake

imagesWe as women sometimes get so caught up in our lives that we forget what’s truly important.  We’ve got families to clothe and feed; careers to build and friends and family we give our time too.  All of which can become potential distractions that tend to take up our time and cause us to lose focus.

This is the basis for part two of Lisa Bevere’s video, entitled Lioness Arising: Dangerously Awake.  Taken from the third chapter of her book of the same title, she tells the story of three lions (two female, one male) who were resettled into a newly designated reserve in South Africa. The men who moved the lions killed a huge animal for them to eat.  What happened next astonished them.  The two females dragged the animal back to an enclosure, not to eat it but to share it with the male lion.  The men were amazed because the lion didn’t want to come out at all. A collar was placed on the lion’s neck to track his movements. The men thought, they could somehow control this lion so they tranquillized him.  One of the lionesses realizes what’s happening, comes out and the men decide to shoot her with a tranquillizer as well. Thus proving that when the enemy wants to get to the men, he’ll attack the female; the conclusion of this is, there’s nothing more dangerous than lions when they’re fully awake.  This is the same for us women.

The question is how do we as women become unconscious?  How did we get put to sleep?

Romans 13:11- 14 states, “11 Besides this you know the time, that the hour has come for you to wake from sleep. For salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed. 12 The night is far gone; the day is at hand. So then let us cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light. 13 Let us walk properly as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and sensuality, not in quarreling and jealousy. 14 But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires.”

The point is when we as women become exhausted; we sometimes become oblivious to God.  We need to awake to what God is doing and become sensitive to His spirit.   We can no longer afford to waste precious hours. We need to get out of bed, get dressed in Christ and go about our business in Him.  Satan has a plan and when we as women are fully awake; we can be more strategic and have a fierce response. We have to decide everyday that we’re not going to become absorbed by our daily lives.  We’re not going to let the busyness of our lives suck the ‘life’ out of us.

Luke 4:18-19 states, 18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, 19 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”

There’s a saying that states, “well behaved women don’t make history”.  Well there are a lot of women in the bible as well as the world who were not well behaved and they made history.  Women such as Rosa Parks, Esther, Tamar, Deborah- the list goes on.  We as women need to keep things in perspective because time is so valuable.
